Big Day of Giving

BigDOG-bannerFriends of Sacramento Country Dance Society:

It’s Big DAY OF GIVING SEASON in Sacramento!

2016 is already off to an exciting start for dancers in Sacramento!  As we continue with our traditional Contra and English Country Dance events, we are also focusing on new traditions that grow our dance community, and help ensure this wonderful tradition is able to thrive in Sacramento.

  • Workshops are being developed to offer training for new callers. We hope to attract local folk and grow our local talent!
  • Families are being invited to specially organized dances. If you weren’t at the Feb. 13th Family Dance, you missed a lot of excitement. Squeals of delight were heard throughout the afternoon.
  • In April we will host special talent at our Anniversary Dance and the English Country May Day celebration weekend. Mark your calendar! You won’t want to miss that!
  • Our newest tradition, as practiced in many Contra communities, is hosting a Community Band night, when our fine local musicians can join in the fun and play for a Contra Dance.

This will mark the third year the Sacramento Country Dance Society has participated in the Give Local Now campaign. Their Big Day of Giving event, which occurs once a year in a single 24 hour period, has raised over $9 million for local organizations.

Because we love our town, because DANCING also LIFTS UP LIVES, mark your calendar for May 3rd, 2016, Big Day of Giving.  Put your money where your heart is and make a one time, tax deductible contribution.  It’s fast, it’s easy, and it ensures the future of Contra and English Country Dancing in Sacramento. Help save an elegant and beautiful tradition.

See you at the dance.
