Janet Kurnick

Janet began playing the violin when she was 10.  She first studied classical, and in college studied fiddle with the late Tiny Moore, a well-known Western Swing fiddler.  In college at Davis, she also began playing Celtic music with various other students from the US, Australia, and England. Her love for Celtic music brought her to Scottish Country Dance, first as a dancer, then as a musician.  She is a well-known, long-time SCD fiddler in Sacramento and beyond, playing in the bands Fiddlesticks & Ivory, Reel of Seven, and Thistle Glen. She has played English country dances with Quite Carried Away on several occasions. Janet spends her spare time harping, gardening, and playing with her West Highland White Terriers.
